Volunteer Gardeners

The Feeding Ourselves and Others Community Garden ( aka Serenity Farm)  is looking for volunteers to work in our organic community garden.  While no gardening experience is necessary you must be comfortable working with persons who are dealing with addictions and mental health issues.

We are looking for volunteers for our Tuesday and/or Thursday sessions (10:30 am – 2:15 pm).  We are located on the grounds of Seven Oaks (4575 Blenkinsop Rd).  You will need your own transportation as there is no public transportation near the site.

The garden operates from April to October.  We are looking for people who are able to commit to at least one session per week for the duration of the garden season.  We grow vegetables, flowers and some fruit which is used by the participants, donated to the community, and sold to generate revenue for the project.

We are entering our seventh garden season, and while we have a number of long time volunteers who will continue to work on the project, we are always looking for new people to help out in the garden.

For further information please contact Dave at the John Howard Society of Victoria 250-386-3428 or email us at jhs@jhsvic.ca for further information. A criminal record check will be required to participate as a volunteer in the garden.
