MHFA is the help provided to a person developing a mental health-related concern or experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate treatment is found or the situation is resolved. 

If you’ve taken a basic physical first aid course, you’ve learned the skills needed to help someone experiencing a sudden illness or injury.  People can also have a mental health crisis, and more Canadians must know how to provide help in these situations too.  

Our MHFA trainer is certified through the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Course name: Mental Health First Aid, Basic

Who’s it for: students, families, service workers, or any member of the community wanting to be well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with family, friends, communities, and in the workplace.

What you learn: 

  • Mental health and stigma
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Effective intervention
  • And resources and support

Includes alcohol and substance-related disorders, mood-related disorders, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, and psychotic disorders.

Duration: 3-4 hours of online programming and 8 hours in person training.

Cost: $214.33  per person includes course material and certificate.
