Adult Programs
Adult Forensic Program:
Treatment for provincially sentenced adult sexual offenders who attend by probation order. Counselling and support for mentally disordered offenders and those found not criminally responsible.
Location: Campbell River & Courtenay
Women's Support Services:
Offers therapeutic support to women who are or have been experiencing abusive relationships.

Assessment and Treatment
Children with Sexual Behaviour Problems:
Specialized treatment services to children who display sexual behaviours that our raising concerns within the family, the school, and their communities.

Youth Forensic Services:
Psychological assessment and treatment for court-ordered youth and their families.

Community Development and Outreach
Alcohol & Drug Prevention:
Provides prevention services related to alcohol and other drugs to students of Lake Trail Junior High School as well as the community.
Location: Courtenay
Alcohol and Drug Outreach Support:
The program provides an after hours service for youth who are on the street and involved in sex/drug related activities. Objectives are improved family interaction, referral to local resources and harm reduction.

Community Development and Training:
Education of community caregivers in youth and drug issues, helping youth to organize their own initiatives, co-ordinating initiatives that benefit young people.

Community School Program:
Provides co-ordination and support for neighbourhood development projects initiated by five elementary schools, one middle school and their communities.

Counselling and Support
Caregiver Support Program:
Provides support to foster parents referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

School Based Support Program:
In co-operation with a school-based team, support is provided for youth and their families experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural problems and who are at risk of dropping out of school.

School Suspension Program
Provides an intervention to students who have been suspended from school for using substances. The Alcohol and Drug Counsellor provides assessment, education, and referral to youth and their families.

Supported Independent Living Housing Project:
JHSNI has been fortunate to secure funding the from Queen Alexandra Strategic Investment Initiative Project to pilot this project for one year. The Goals/objective for the project is to establish safe, affordable and supported housing for youth in "youth friendly" locations. The anticipated outcomes are to assist youth to make a healthy transition into adulthood and reduce homelessness. The youth will develop with the support of an independent worker needed life skills and social skills to live cooperatively with others. How will the project be implemented? A working committee will be developed made of JHSNI, MCFD, MHR, landlords and youth to develop the framework of the project. Housing units will be rented (and insured) by JHSNI for a set amount of time with youth friendly landlords. JHSNI will sublease to youth approved for the program and by the landlord of that specific unit. Youth will be involved in an independent living agreement to be working toward full independence. Youth Alcohol and Drug Services:
Alcohol and Drug counselling services for youth, offering assessment, individual, group and family counselling, and follow-up support.

Youth Criminal Justice Act Family Support:
Assists high-risk youth on probation to make healthier lifestyle choices through: short of long term individual/family support, assessment and referral to other community agencies, advocacy, crisis intervention, case planning, and management.

Youth Withdrawal Management:
Provides service to youth who are in the process of withdrawal from drugs and alcohol. When a youth has been identified as needing assistance, a safe, community based, and individualized withdrawal treatment plan is jointly determined by the youth, his/her caregivers, and the Withdrawal Management coordinator. Ongoing support is provided to youth, families and other agencies.

Youth/Parent Mediation:
Provides crisis intervention, mediation and conflict resolution to teens and their families, as well as parent education courses.

Interagency High Risk Children and Youth Program:
Program provides stability for families whose children and/or youth are identified as "high profile" through intensive intervention strategies and interagency coordination.

Youth Community Service Orders:
Staff supervises youth sentenced by the courts to perform community hours. The program stresses community involvement and service as a way of reconciliation.

Supervision
Headstart Boys Program:
The 13-week training program focuses on life skills, job skills and independent living, with academics, substance abuse counselling and recreation components. The emphasis is on developing accountability and responsibility. For males 15 - 18.
Intensive Support and Supervision:
Intensive supervision, service coordination, support and counselling to youth and their families as identified by local probation officers.

Vocational

Challenge Centre
The Challenge Centre, a 16-acre site near Campbell River, is the location for the Oasis residential program for girls referred by probation officers throughout the province.
Oasis Girls Program:
Designed to meet the special needs of female adolescents requiring an alternative to custody. The 16-week program for ages 14-18 offers life skills, job skills, academics, substance abuse counselling, independent living skills, relationship exploration and recreation -- all in a context that honors the female experience. The program puts an emphasis on developing problem solving and decision-making skills that can lead to positive life choices. Each youth has an opportunity to create an individualized program based on personal needs.
