Adult Services

COMMUNITY SERVICES:
Volunteers and staff provide support network for people involved in the criminal justice system in order to promote successful community living. Services include information and referral, advocacy, crisis support, job search assistance, addiction services, assistance with accessing government agencies, and help with identification and pardon applications.

PRISON SERVICES:
Volunteers and staff provide pre-release planning assistance, information, referral, advocacy and ongoing support via telephone and mail.

PUBLIC SPEAKING:
Speakers are provided and engagements are solicited among service and public interest groups.

FAMILY SUPPORT:
This service provides information, advocacy, support groups and training sessions for families and other victims of people involved in the criminal justice system.

RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE:
This program provides group and individual intervention and/or support to men who wish to change their pattern of resorting to use of violence in their relationships.

NEWSLETTER:
The bi-annual newsletter keeps members and the public informed about issues and concerns in the criminal justice system.

MEDIA CONTACTS:
Professional staff is available to media and seek media involvement in issues that affect those concerned about the criminal justice system.

Youth Services

YOUTH COURT PROGRAM:
Supports young people and their families during their involvement with the court system. The program provides explanation of legal rights and responsibilities, problem solving, goal setting, long-term support and confidentiality.

RESTORATIVE CONFERENCING:
A restorative program for children, youth and individuals affected by their behaviour that brings together all parties affected by an incident in order to repair the harm caused. Conferencing provides participants an equal opportunity to hear what happened, hear how everyone has been affected and decide how to make things better.

CHOICES:
An educational program designed for youth in high schools and alternative schools, youth groups, university/law classes and community groups. The program involves volunteers who speak about their experience and the realities of life on the street, involvement with alcohol and drug abuse and serving time in the criminal justice system.

Federal Prison Services

Staff and volunteers regularly visit the Federal institutions in the Fraser Valley offering community information, social contact and encouragement to those incarcerated.

Guy Richmond Place/Hobden House

Provides a home to men on conditional release from Federal institutions. Houses provide a structured environment and promote the skills necessary for successful reintegration, particularly in the areas of community functioning, employment, substance abuse, and moral support. Incorporates harm reduction and restorative initiatives and encourages members to become contributing members of society.

Vancouver Apartments

Provides housing and a supported living program for adults who are mentally challenged (IQ of 50 to 70) and/or mentally ill, and who need a place to live while they stabilize and learn skills that will enable them to move into the community. Also able to accommodate clients who have been charged, convicted, or are being investigated regarding a criminal offence; or are at risk of involvement in the criminal justice system.

Outreach Program

Provides one-to-one life skills support to adults in the community who are mentally challenged (IQ 50 to 70) and/or mentally ill, and who are involved in, or at risk of involvement in the criminal justice system

Prostitution Offender Program

Program for people arrested for “Communications for the Purpose of Prostitution” that encourages sex trade consumers to gain a greater understanding of prostitution and related issues so that they are able to make different decisions in the future. The program includes addresses by community members who lives have been negatively affected by prostitution.
