Program Description:
The JHS Fraser Valley office offers an extensive telephone and drop in service. Information, referral, crisis intervention and supportive counselling are available to anyone experiencing past, present, or potential conflict with the law. Information and assistance with Board Crossing permits, pardon Packages, resume preparation, job searches, community education, volunteer and practicum opportunities are also part of the ongoing service to the community.

Sylvia’s Family House

Program Description:
Sylvia’s Family House offers short-term accommodation for families and friends visiting prisoners at federal institutions. Families pay a nominal fee and supply their own food. JHS Fraser Valley provides required staple and household items. Visitors are offered counselling, emotional support, information on the criminal justice system, visiting procedures, and relocation assistance as required. Families wishing to stay at the house must book in advance.

Program Description:
To develop supportive interventions and resources to address needs of prisoners and their families. The Society provides information, referral, counselling, some transportation assistance and emotional support to families of prisoners and former prisoners living in the community. JHS Fraser Valley provides family members with visiting/orientation packages consisting of visiting rules, regulations and support services available. Each year the JHS endeavors to provide recreational opportunities and subsides for families and children affect by incarceration. Children’s programs include birthday club, Annual Christmas parties, distribution of clothing, household goods and more.

Program Description:
Regular visits are made by professional staff to Federal Prison in the Pacific Region in order to make the full range of agency services available to prisoners. This involves social support, counselling, pre-release preparation, post-release support, referrals to community organizations, institutional groups, ETA’s, Socials, telephone counselling, information, advocacy, the organization of Information Fiars, and the Society acts as the purchasing agent for prisoner fundraisers.
